PAULINE HUYNH

So I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed.

Time to barf out all my feelings.

WHY IS GRADUATING IN 3 YEARS PREMED SO HARD? WHY CAN’T I DO IT WHILE MINORING IN ART HISTORY? I can shove in Natural Science and Health Care Studies, but not Art History…

AND WHY ARE MEDICAL SCHOOLS SO PICKY ABOUT STUDENT’S AGES? Will they really look unfavorably upon me if I graduate a year early? A semester early? WHY DID MY PREMED ADVISOR SUGGEST 2 GAP YEARS? I understand one, but two? WHAT.

AND WHY DOES THE MCAT HAVE TO CHANGEEEEEEEEEEE? I understand the need to add psychology, sociology, and anthropology, BUT IS EXPANDING THE TEST FROM 4 HOURS TO 7 HOURS REALLY NECESSARY? DO THEY HAVE ANY IDEA HOW NUMB OUR BUTTS WILL BE FROM SITTING IN FRONT OF A COMPUTER FOR THAT LONG?

I want to volunteer and get clinical experience BUT THE CLOSEST HOSPITAL IS 15-30 MINUTES AWAY BY BUS. FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU. Which means an hour of commuting for every 2-4 hour shift I take. How can I fit that in if I plan to take 18 units every semester?!

Well, I guess I could drop Health Care studies? Or Natural Sciences? BUT THAT’S STUPID; I’D ONLY BE 3 CLASSES AWAY.

I really want to minor in Art History. But is the extra semester (read: $17,000) worth it? IS IT? Minoring in Art History would make me eligible to apply for the Renaissance Scholar Program and its $10,000 scholarship, BUT I DON’T EVEN KNOW IF I’D WIN. And it wouldn’t compensate for the other $7000.

WHY DOES HEALTH AND HUMANITY HAVE SO MANY UNITS?! 61-64 units. WHY IS IT NOT A BS?  I. JUST. *OVERTURNS A TABLE*

Oh, but on the upside, training in the lab is going fine and dandy. A bit boring if nothing else, but not unexpected.

Oh yeah, Math midterm tomorrow too.

Fall 2013 in a nutshell.

18 units. 4.0 YUS. I proved that my grades won’t die just because I decide to be involved. Averaged 20 hours/week as an RA. Won
